Chinese Food Therapy

Chinese Food Therapy

Hippocrates once said, “ Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

Here at HeartFire Vet we truly believe that a solid nutritional foundation is the key to recovering from illness and preventing future disease processes.

Our western society is experiencing an unprecedented increase in chronic inflammatory diseases in people and their pets. Chemicals and processed diets are contributing to this epidemic. Whole real foods offer a solution.

Chinese food therapy is one of the 5 principles of TCVM. Chinese medicine identifies imbalances in the body that over time, lead to disease. In order for the body to use its innate healing ability, we need to create balance once again. Foods have properties that when used correctly, can help rebalance and nourish the body to support healing. As a TCVM practitioner, Dr. Kayser will identify these imbalances and prescribe a diet that will most benefit your individual pet. Home cooking, Raw and Commercial Diets will be discussed.

Chinese food therapy uses TCVM theory to develop diets specific to patients and their health conditions. These diets often fall into these categories:

  • Health Promotion and Prevention – to improve your pet’s health and to help prevent issues related to climate and seasonal problems
  • Disease Treatment – to treat clinical conditions, such as skin problems, autoimmune diseases, and immunodeficiencies
  • Adjunct Therapy – to complement primary treatments (acupuncture, herbs, or Western Medicine) of diseases such as otitis (ear infections), urinary crystals and stones, urinary tract infections, irritable bowel disease, chronic heart failure, cancer, renal failure, and liver failure
